Alive and Well in Baltimore, Maryland
I realized the other day that I had been back from the Iowa trip for over a week now but hadn't said a word in the blog. Well, for those of you who were wondering, I did indeed return safe and sound. The truck performed flawlessly for 1900+ miles, and I had a good time. I will try to get more pics up one of these days, but I'm not really happy with most of them. We'll see what I think on second look. Other than that, I had a great time. Did the whole friends and family thing, saw Willie and Dylan in Des Moines, and Biram and Buck in Iowa City. About the only thing I could have lived without is the cold I brought back with me that still has me coughing a little. Between the cold and the less than smooth ride of the truck, I'd felt like I'd spent 12 hours in a martini shaker by the time I'd gotten home. Other than that though, I don't really have any tales of woe from the road. That may make for a dull blog, but I think that's a more than fair trade.
I got invited over to Rodney's pie shop Friday night to hang out and check out some local bands. I decided what the hell, I'll go, so I dosed up on a bunch of cold medicine, picked up a 30 pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon at the Loading Dock, and off I went. Man, I had a great time. I got to hang out with some very cool people, talked cameras with another 10D owner, and had an all around ball. Good music, good people, and good beer are always a winning combination. OK, maybe not good beer, but after the first three or four it's all good. By the time the evening was done, I'd had enough of those tasty PBRs that I ended up leaving the truck parked near the pie shop and just walked back to the house, already psyched about the next pie shop gig in a couple of weeks. Special thanks to James for the invite!
